Equilibrium: a 5Rhythms® Workshop on the Polarities of Presence

This spacious season of darkness, of lengthening days and growing light cradles us in an essential restorative energy, a contemplative space of consciousness and presence.  The coming season of spring brings an equilibrium between day and night, and time for stirring, germination and awakening for many forms of life in this hemisphere.  Sap rises, heart rates quicken out of hibernation, birds return from warmer climates, filling the empty skies.  Buds swell and shoots break the surface of the forest floor as the ground begins to thaw.  We venture out of the warmth inside our homes, back into the outdoors, with practices that renew and refresh.

As we approach the vernal equinox, we invite you to dance the polarities of the 5Rhythms as we explore each rhythm in it’s endarkened and enlightened expression.  This journey of movement, connection, ritual, and integration is offered as a waypoint on your path to the refreshing, creative, and exhilarating energy of renewal that spring can offer.

Workshops accommodate 10-15 participants and happen at Center Studio, in the Ix Building, downtown Charlottesville:  providing a sprung floor with soft marley for the care of your joints and feet, a pro sound system to surround you with musical sensation, and an intimate container in which to move our truth together.

This autumnal season of darkness, of lengthening nights and diminishing light holds us in an essential energy, an intuitive space of regeneration and inner growth. The coming season of winter brings with it the return of the light, and a long period of rest for many forms of life in this hemisphere. Sap slows, heart rates drop into hibernation, birds absent themselves to warmer climates, emptying the skies. Crisp leaves rest on the forest floor as the ground grows cold. We bring the warmth inside our homes, into our hearth, with practices that soothe and comfort.

As we approach the winter solstice, we invite you to dance the polarities of the 5rhythms as we explore each rhythm in it’s endarkened and enlightened expression. This soothing season of release and bounty, of shorter days and cooling winds, delights us in an exuberant display of color and abundance, a reflective space of gratitude and luciferous change.  The coming season of autumn brings a shift into decidedly cooler and longer nights; a time for harvesting, fruition, and transition for many forms of life in this hemisphere.  Leaves brighten, crisp and fall. Melancholy musings turn our focus inward as the space between the possibilities of Summer and emptiness of Winter arrives. Birds begin to fly to  warmer climates, opening the soundscapes of our mornings and evenings into a growing silence.  Fruit and leaves begin to litter the forest floor as their bodies nourish whatever grows next.  Some of us venture out into the wilds while the temperate weather persists, gathering around fires, with practices that acknowledge and give thanks.  Some return to learning and the halls and chambers of curiosity, reconfiguring families and offering new opportunities to the next generations.
